How to Make Money Blogging Online

Over the past few years, blogs have risen from an almost unknown “computer geek” secret to the “it” thing on the internet. It seems that almost everyone, from celebrities to your local junior high students has a blog.
While it is very common to find blogs as personal diaries, people that own service based businesses can definitely profit from having a blog. First and foremost, a business blog helps to build your web presence. In today’s society, having a strong web presence is a key factor in your business success.

When a potential client is thinking about hiring you, there is a good chance that they will do a little investigation of you online. The potential client may go to Google and do a search on your name, just to see what comes up. If they find a lot of links, including blog posts that include helpful information, they will feel more secure in hiring you.

Using your blog to showcase your knowledge in your chosen field will help you establish yourself as an expert. When people see you as an expert, they will automatically think of you when they need your product or service, and they will also refer others to you.

You can communicate your knowledge in a variety of different ways. Of course, keeping your blog current and full of information your target market would appreciate is the main goal, but you can find ways to make it fun. A life coach, for instance could hold a series on reducing stress, and each Monday they could post a relaxation technique. You can also include audio and video messages. This is a growing trend, as more and more people are getting video iPods. In addition to using your blog as a way to build relationships and gain publicity, there are various ways to make money blogging online. One of the most popular is by displaying contextual ads, such as Google AdSense.

When you sign up (at http://www.google.com/adsense), you will be given a small amount of HTML code to add to your blog; Google will read your blog content and display text ads your reader may find interesting. For example, a blog about golf may display ads for golf clubs. When one of your readers clicks on these ads, you will be paid a commission.

Another option is to join affiliate programs for products and services your target market would enjoy. When you join as an affiliate, you will be given special links that you can use on your blog; when one of your readers clicks on these links and purchases the product or service being advertised, you will earn a commission.
There are also companies that will pay you to write about their products and services. The payment will vary depending on the company and how popular your blog is. There are several websites dedicated to bringing companies willing to pay bloggers to post and bloggers together. A popular choice is http://www.payperpost.com.
Your business blog can benefit you in many ways. It can help you earn income by raising the public’s awareness of your business and cementing yourself as an expert, and by applying the above suggestions, you can also begin to make money blogging online. This will give you an additional income stream, and more than likely, it will also help you create additional buzz around your business.

Are You Struggling To Come Up With Content For Your Blog?

Most people are excited when they start a brand new blog on self hosted Wordpress, at Blogger or any other blogging website. They usually have a general idea of what they want their blog to be about and they are just buzzing with ideas. They want to share a little of this and a little of that while making their opinion known about the main topic of the blog.
There are so many different things to blog about:

  • If your passion is mental health, you might choose to blog about Bipolar Disorder, depression and anxiety.
  • If parenting is your forte, you might blog about various aspects of parenting like rewards and punishments, dealing with temperamental teenagers, how to be an effective single parent and tips for dealing with preschoolers.
  • If you’re blogging about weight loss, you might want to highlight the pitfalls of straying from a healthy diet plan and how to get back on track with one’s fitness plan by working out at home with work out DVD’s and fitness gear. You might share how to make recipes that are not only delicious and quick  but also healthy too.
  • If your blog caters to those who want to save money and spend less you might write posts that show your readers how to save money on their next trip to the grocery store, how to use coupons when making online purchases, how to sell thins they no longer need or want to generate some extra cash and ways to save money on bills in the winter.
  • As your blog starts to gain a little momentum you may find that your readers want more. Posting biweekly or once a week may no longer satisfy those who love your blog. The people want more and so you try to give it to them, posting two to three times a week or even daily.
  • You set up a blogging schedule to deal with the hectic demand for content. For some, blogging daily will be easy cake, a walk in the park and for others, they might feel a sense of dread or frustration as they try to come up with yet another post after barely choking out the last one. They were fine when they didn’t need to write as much content but now the task is becoming overwhelming for them. They may even begin to suffer with writers block.
  • Fortunately their is an easier way. PLR to the rescue. PLR,which stands for private label content, is any type of content that you can edit and use as you see fit as long as you don’t add it to article directories or sell it as PLR yourself. There’s a lot that you can do with PLR.
  • You can copy and paste it as in when you’re in a bind and need content quick or you can reword the content, changing the order of the sentences or paragraphs as well as swapping out words for appropriate synonyms.
  • You could even take it a step further and use your PLR for research ideas. You could then branch out from some of the main points covered within the articles and easily create unique content of your own.

10 Tips For Being A Successful Blogger

Many people have contemplated starting a blog at some point in their life. These days setting up a blog takes only minutes for a bare bones site. But there is a big difference between having a blog andbeing a blogger. Running a successful blog is not easy and requires a lot of work, but it’s also a lot of fun if your heart is really in it.  First of all let’s clarify what “success” means in the blogging world. A successful blog is one with a steady traffic flow and a constantly growing audience that keeps coming back for more.
Here are 10 tips for becoming a successful blogger:

  • Passion
If you don’t have a real passion for the subject you’re writing about you will never be a successful blogger. It’s a long and tough road building a blog audience and without true passion you’re guaranteed to fizzle out.

  • Bloggers Must Blog
    – 1 or 2 blog posts a year is not going to cut it. Writing a blog post when you get around to it will not work. If you dread having to write a post you probably shouldn’t be a blogger.

  • Be Consistent
This goes hand in hand with tip #2. The more blogging the better but being consistent is almost more important. From day 1 you need to figure out realistically how often you can blog and then stick to that. If it’s every day, 3 times a week, or every Saturday you need to stick with that. The way to build an audience is to have an established posting schedule.

  • Make Your Blog User Friendly
Make all the content you’ve worked so hard to write easily accessible. Have a list on your sidebar with recent posts. List other articles you’ve written of potential interest at the end of your posts. Include an archive too so people can read your older content. This can all be done automatically with WordPress plugins.
The Unofficial Tip #1 is BUILD YOUR BLOG WITH WORDPRESS!

  • Collect Email Addresses
I cannot stress enough how valuable it is to collect the email addresses of your readers (should they choose to give it of course). This is not so you can SPAM them but so you can send them updates about the blog or send them a weekly list of all your posts for that week or month. Sending out a weekly or monthly newsletter can be very effective at building an audience.

  • RSS Feed Link
Make sure to put a link to your blog’s RSS feed in a prominent place. You want to encourage people to subscribe to your posts.

  • Talk To Other Bloggers (Successful Ones)
Reach out to other bloggers in your niche. Blogging is not a “me vs them” competition where one blogger has to fail in order for another to succeed. If they write about the same things as you they are not the enemy. Having relationships with already established bloggers in your niche can make all the difference in the world. They may link to one of your posts or recommend your blog to their audience.

  • Comment on other blogs
Be a regular in the comments section of other people’s posts in your niche. Become a part of the community. This goes hand in hand with tip #7

  • Make Social Sharing Easy
Your readers need to be able to share your posts to their favorite social network with a single click. You want your content easy to spread around and share. The most important sharing buttons to have are for Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. If you have nothing else make sure you at least have those! While we’re on the subject, feel free to hit one of those buttons at the top of this post or at the side and share it!

  • Be Patient
Your blog is NOT going to be a success overnight. If you are not in it for the long haul don’t bother. You can start to see a nice stream of traffic and some regular readers in a few months depending on how much time you put in, but it usually takes years for a blog to really take off.
